Large Canvas Art

One of the most impressive ways to decorate a great room is with large canvas art. A large eye-catching oil painting becomes the focal point of the space, and it makes a fantastic first impression. Consider the following great room decorating ideas, and transform one of the most popular rooms in the home into a well-decorated and impressive space.

Hanging Large Works of Art

Smaller works of art should be centered just above eye level, but larger pieces can be hung a few inches higher since they are easier to see from any distance. Many large canvas works of art have hangers built into the frame, and they require careful leveling. To make hanging easier, outfit the stretch canvas with a sturdy wire and canvas frame hardware. Position the hardware and the wire approximately four to six inches below the top of the frame along the sides. This will keep the top of the painting against the wall where it belongs. The lower the ends of the wire are positioned along the sides of the frame, the further the top of the painting will stand out from the wall. The wire will allow for easy adjustment and leveling, especially when the painting is mounted high above easy reach.
